Overview:
Passport to the World is a 1st-5th-grade cross-cultural curriculum guide that includes 35 professionally written lesson plans. Each lesson takes students on an art adventure to the 7 continents each year. Students learn about a variety of people, places, cultures, and art forms created around the world. These age-appropriate lessons introduce students to cross-cultural art history, art criticism, and production. Lessons are aligned to the National Core Arts Standards (NCAS) and are integrated across the curriculum.
Passport to the World is written in a spiraled curriculum lesson-plan format that builds on previous knowledge and skills. Traveling to the seven continents each year allows students to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate the world around them while developing new art knowledge and skills. Passport to the World encourages students to look at the world through an artist's eyes. Lessons are meant to introduce students to a variety of art forms inspired by people, places, and cultures from around the world, throughout history.
Lessons are highly engaging and easy to follow. Each lesson builds student self-confidence, a sense of accomplishment, and pride. The ultimate goal is to instill a lifelong love of learning and an appreciation of people, places, and cultures from around the world.
